Charity Mixed Martial Art Festival
Details:
Arrangements for the Charity Martial Arts Festival organised by Joan Connor. The event will take place at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre, Harbour Road, Portishead, Bristol, BS20 7DD; on Saturday 7th Jan, 2012; from 10:00 to 16:00.
We now have 14 styles/instructors teaching on the day. During the first half of the event, 7 instructors will teach in 7 different areas of the hall. Each half hour the students will be invited to change and train with somebody else (a kind of martial arts speed dating). We won't have time to give an in depth look at each style, it will be more of an overview as it this is supposed to be a fun event.
At about the half way mark, we'll break for lunch. After lunch the remaining 7 instructors will have their turn to do the same. This means that each instructor is only teaching for half the event and gets the chance to try out some of the other styles too.
In the first half we have:
Tai Chi
Shotokan Karate
Okinawan Kobujutsu
Wing Chun
Stav
Freestyle Kickboxing
Systema
In the second half we have:
Aikido
Wado Ryu Karate
Tang Soo Do
Okinawan Te/White Crane
Shorinji Kempo
Combat Jujutsu
Krav Maga
Participants are asked to make a donation to the charity, Kick Cancer, so there is no set fee. This should make it affordable for families. If children would like to get themselves sponsored to do the event, that would be great, but that is entirely optional.
Templegate will be taking part in this charity event and have the privilege of performing a demonstration to close the event. If you can come along and participate in the days activities please do, it is for a worthy cause, we will appreciate your support and it should be a fun and interesting day.
Hope to see you there!
